A DAY AT THE MARKET.

It was a beautifully sunny day for the Seattle area. So I decided to kill some time at an old favorite, Pike Place Market. Had a little salad at a Spanish place overlooking the Market.

Decided to continue my adventure and explore an antique shop around the corner.

A little Madonna and a little Marilyn Monroe.

AN OLD ATTEMPT AT WRITING ABOUT GETTING OLD.

So it finally happened today. I was nervous, and excited. You know the kind of nervous a kid feels if they have to get headgear.
Okay, so maybe not quite that bad.... Anyway, I walked up to the lady at the front counter announced my name and the nature of my business. She asked me to take a seat and someone would "be with me in a moment." I sat nervously waiting and listening to the older couple at the table in front of me conversing. They spoke of too big, too small, these get dark, clipons are good. Then the tall man helping them said something that was music to my ear's. "Would you mind if I helped that YOUNG lady sitting over there while you decide?" The tall man waved me over to have a seat, and then he disappeared to the back. Oh my, now the time was getting closer, I was a bit anxious and well, excited I guess. As he reappeared holding the plastic zip baggie in his hand, I started to get a warm nervous blush over my face. He pulled them out leaning forward to place them on my face. Yes, my NEW SHINY RED  glasses were here at last, and then I caught a glimpse out of the corner of my eye, (guess the good part of my eye that can see now) the DREADED mirror, as I turned my head to look straight in that mirror, Oh dear, holy #*@*&!, what are those? Oh no, I started feeling my slight blush turn to a shade that was very similar to the glasses that rimmed my wrinkled eyes. "Okay," I started to say to myself "calm down, maybe your eyes are just blurry," So I closed my eyes and reopened them and I'll be damned if those wrinkles had not just grown, AHHH, now I was screaming inside, "wait a minute, hold up, I was just that YOUNG LADY a moment ago." As the tall man leaned forward and took the glasses from my face, saying he would return after he "adjusted" those (my term)"old lady seeing glasses." My thoughts went to " maybe you can adjust those SHINY RED glasses several years younger. When the tall man returned, he placed My New SHINY RED glasses back upon my face. He placed two glass cases in front of me, one dark brown and one bright orange, and yes I grabbed the orange one, since I figured the wrinkles around my eyes would soon be covering my actual eyeballs and my vision would be even more compromised. If orange is good enough for freeway workers to stand on the freeway and be seen and not get hit, well then I should be able to see it in my messy purse The tall man announced I was set, and ready to go. I stood up from my chair a bit tipsy, perhaps from my blood pressure or my eyes adjusting, in which I was not so sure. I thanked the tall man, and the old couple for their time and proceeded toward the door. UH, Wow did my legs get shorter, with each step I took I raised my legs higher and higher. That was some HIGH STEPPING happening. OK, here I am high stepping down the side walk with my new SHINY RED glasses, thinking "well that is some big steps coming from this old wrinkled lady." I chuckled at myself as I often do, wondering if people just sit on the corner watching others come out of the vision center trying to find their "new glasses legs" (in which yes, indeed I filed as perhaps a fun Saturday afternoon activity) As I walked down the street high stepping with my new found wrinkles (they are new to me, cause I can see them now) and my new SHINY RED glasses thinking, maybe this getting old thing is not so bad. Perhaps I will get some YELLOW RUBBER BOOTS and go jumping in puddles. Maybe I will invite my cousin.  The splashes we could make would be quite the thing to see with my NEW SHINY RED GLASSES. So, 38 here I come, with wrinkles, and as age would have it, a new ability to see things so much clearer in mind, heart, and eyes with a little help from my NEW SHINY RED glasses.
